Raekwon called out RZA as a bold-face liar when he said Raekwon wasn’t involved with the group’s upcoming album, and he hadn’t talked with him.
But this was all a misunderstanding. RZA did an interview with Vlad TV prior to speaking with Raekwon, but the interview was published after they spoke.
“I’m gonna clear one thing up. In the newest article in Rolling Stone Raekwon says that I’m a boldface liar, which I’m far from,” RZA told radio.com. “I don’t need to lie. I’m a grown man. I’ve got children. I only have one rule in my house, ‘Don’t lie to me.’”
In fact, Raekwon’s exact words were:
“I don’t know why he said he didn’t speak to me, because he did speak to me. We spoke about two weeks ago. It was me, him, his brother and business partner Devine and we talked about why I’m not there right now. They know where I’m at and at the end of the day, him saying he didn’t speak to me is a bold-faced lie.”
The miscommunication since had been cleared up.
“I guess when it came out he read it then. I spoke to Raekwon eight days ago but the interview was 14 or 16 days ago. In his interview he says, ‘RZA is a liar, he spoke to me.’ No, when I did the interview, brother, I didn’t speak to you. I hadn’t spoke to him in six months before that.”
But RZA wants to end any feuding and get back to the music. The group is supposed to be working on the album “A Better Tomorrow.”
RZA wants Raekwon to be part of the album.
“We need him there. I want him there. I came up with the idea to do another album to celebrate our 20th year. [Call it] BetterTomorrow because I feel our world needs a better tomorrow. I want to bring that spirit back. To celebrate ourselves. Why wouldn’t you want to celebrate yourselves?”
“A Better Tomorrow” is due out sometime later this year.
