*Bounce TV’s “Family Time,” a half hour sitcom created by Bentley Kyle Evans (“Martin,” “The Jamie Foxx Show,” “Love That Girl”), is described as a remix of “The Cosby Show” meets snapbacks, tattoos and skinny jeans.
EURweb associate LaCora Stephens sat down with the director, executive producer and creator, Bentley Kyle Evans of the new hit series. to find out what it’s all about.
“Family Time is a story that needed to be told in that it’s a new depiction of the new age African American family. Some pieces are pulled out of the pages of my life,” says Evans.
It centers around the life and times of The Stallworths, a working class African American family who scratch off a lottery ticket and jumps to middle class overnight. They’re an authentic picture of an African American family working to live the dream.
This family-next-door consists of two loving parents: Anthony (Omar Gooding) and Lisa (Angell Conwell) Stallworth and their children Ebony (Jayla Calhoun) and Devin (Bentley Kyle Evans, Jr.) The Stallworths move to a middle class community in sunny Southern California and both Anthony and Lisa bring baggage and other family members into their relationship that makes for great comedy – and occasional drama.
Bounce TV and Evans have partnered and have other projects in the works. They want to continue to keep creating great new product for the generations to come. Evans encourages you to, “Watch Bounce TV…watch ‘Family Time’ so more shows can be ordered because we’re not stopping until we get to 100!”
“Family Time” is the first-ever original series for Bounce TV which is the nation’s first-ever over-the-air, not cable, broadcast television network for African-Americans that fits into the likes of NBC, CBS, ABC. The show, which had a run on TV One as well, will air new episodes later on this year in the Fall.
