*Los Angeles – Joining a growing list of celebrity fans that include mentors Quincy Jones and MC Lyte, actor Derek Luke (“Baggage Claim”) and his actual wife (Sofia) lend their support by playing parents to Lela Brown who teams with Young Money’s Torian Sellers on the single “Falling in Love” making its world premiere on BET’s “106 & Park” Thursday.
A fun, whimsical track by Young Chill of Keys and Ink sets the stage for “Falling In Love”, which proves the perfect playground for Brown and Sellers who deliver a sweet start to summer on this first single. Brown’s confident delivery and lyrical word play boasts subliminal echoes of legendary female emcees from Lil Kim to Nicki Minaj while keeping it clean for the kids! Sellers does his heartthrob thing well and together with Brown give the video and single youthful, playful flirtations, edgy enough while remaining age appropriate. Ironically, that is what will drive Brown’s success. She showcases the lyrical prowess of contemporary emcees, she is fun and funky but because of her age Brown developed a cleaner style that parents can approve and kids are sure to love. It is girl power 2.0.
Be sure to catch BET’s highly acclaimed video show “106 & Park” for Brown and Sellers in the music video for the single “Falling In Love”, starring Derek Luke making its world premiere as the “New Joint Of The Day” on Thursday, May 8th. Please check with your local cable provider for listings & times.
