*Cuba Gooding Jr. has closed a deal with 20th Century Fox TV to develop a single-camera half-hour comedy set in an old-school boxing gym, reports Deadline.com.
Based on Gooding’s love of boxing, the series is set in a gym in a newly gentrified neighborhood where hard-core boxers, weekend warriors and soccer moms gather to practice.
Gooding will co-create and executive produce the project with Jason Winer‘s Small Dog Picture Company. However, the Oscar winner is not attached to star at this point.
The project has yet to hire a writer, Deadline reports. Gooding and Small Dog are meeting with potential showrunners before taking the project — which is not being called a sitcom — out to networks.
