*This weekend BET took over downtown Los Angeles with the BET Experience Fan Fest, the nation’s largest free fan festival.
The LA Live campus was home to the interactive expo; featuring concerts, dance competitions, and a celebrity basketball game.
EUR was On The Scene with associate Michelle Renee backstage at Music Matters, a showcase for the next generation of great musicians. We talked to Karina Pasian, Eric Bellinger, Rico Love, and Mack Wilds about their predictions for BETs coveted “Video of the Year” award.
Grammy-nominated recording artist Karina Pasian couldn’t decide which artist would take home the trophy.
“I would say Beyonce for “Partition,” shared the pianist. “The video was amazing and I think she really changed it up. But maybe Chris Brown…I don’t know. And Pharrell…he changed the game with a 24 hour music video.”
R&B crooner Eric Bellinger is crystal clear about who the winner will be.
“Im definitely going with Chris Brown’s ‘Fine China,’ since I wrote that one,” laughed the singer. “So ‘Fine China,’ we taking it! CB! Team Breezy! Holla at me!”
Rico Love expressed his support for Beyonce.
“I’m going to go with “Partition,” explained the artist. “She was so creative on the making of this album and the detail in the videos. It was really high-fashion. It was really out there and avant-garde. I respect her challenging the visual and not doing things that were typical Beyonce. She stepped outside of the box, so I think she should be applauded for that.”
Actor turned musician Mack Wilds kept his reasoning simple.
“I think Pharrell might get it,” stated the Wilds. “That’s a hell of a record.”
The nominees for ‘Video of the Year’ are Beyoncé for “Partition,” and “Drunk In Love” featuring her husband Jay-Z. Chris Brown for his single “Fine China,” Drake for “Worst Behavior,” and Pharrell Williams for “Happy.”
