Chris Rock Hosting BET Awards

*The 2014 BET Awards delivered a wild ride of exhilarating performances, side-splitting comedy and countless fashion do’s and don’ts.

Hosted by veteran funny man Chris Rock, the evening began with live music from mega-producer and “Happy”  creater Pharrell Williams.

Keeping the crowd in stitches between award presentations and live performances, Rock provided endless laughs and quick-witted commentary from start to finish. He even poked fun at Rick Ross for coming out with his own line of headphones, calling them “Dia-beats” in connection with Dr. Dre’s multibillion dollar business deal with apple.  In fact, if you scroll down, you can see Rock’s opening monologue.

Despite his ongoing legal woes, Chris Brown reminded viewers why he was once dubbed the second coming of pop icon Michael Jackson. To the sound of his new smash hit “Loyal,” the dynamic singer ripped the stage with dizzying coreography and was joined by renowned drummer Travis Barker.

The rest of the show featured a multitude of celebrity apearances, including performances by Trey Songz, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, John Legend, Nicki Minaj, Robin Thicke, Tyrese, Iggy Azalea, Jhene Aiko and more. Like every year a portion of the ceremony was dedicated in honor of the recent deaths of Maya Angelou, Ruby Dee,  Bobby Womack, and others.

Phylicia Rashad took the stage to share her thoughts during the shows civil rights anniversary tribute and Lionel Richie was honored with a lifetime achievement award. Delivering on its promise to be bigger and better than ever, the BET awards didn’t disappoint.

See an encore tonight at 7pm Pacific/6 Central.
