*Ratings for the “Flex & Shanice” special that aired on OWN last month were good enough for the network to lock it down for eight more episodes.

The weekly one-hour reality series follows the lives of actor Flex Alexander, his 90s R&B star wife Shanice and their extended family, all of whom live together under one roof.

The one-hour test episode on Saturday, May 31 at 10 p.m., delivered double-digit growth (+25%) in the network’s key women 25-54 demo in the time period vs. one year ago, OWN revealed Thursday. The special was also the night’s No. 1 cable telecast (non-sports) for African-American women 25-54 and 18-49.

The series is set to join the network’s Saturday night programming lineup this fall.

“Saturday nights on OWN have become the place to be for viewers seeking great family entertainment, and we are pleased to share the newest members of our family with our audience,” said Sheri Salata, president, OWN. “Flex, Shanice and their big, loud, loving brood are not unlike many families today who have combined resources in order to get through some tough times. Seeing how their love, laughter, and enduring faith in one another makes even the most challenging of days worthwhile is both entertaining and inspiring. We think our viewers are really going to connect with them.”
