Days after being announced as the lead in Lifetime’s upcoming Aaliyah biopic, the Disney Channel star has been revealed as the new face of Madonna’s Material Girl clothing line.
The 17-year-old, who replaces singer Rita Ora, appears in the new “Boardwalk Babe” ads, modeling the line’s summer collection onon Brooklyn’s Coney Island boardwalk.
Speaking of the collaboration, Madonna said: ”Zendaya exudes a confident, free spirit. We love having her as the new face of Material Girl.”
Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, who models the Material Girl clothing and works alongside her mother, also gushed about the new model. “I love how Zendaya makes her own style rules to fit her personality – that’s who Material Girl is all about, being yourself to the fullest.”
Zendaya was thrilled to be chosen by the “dynamic mother/daughter duo,” stating: “Material Girl embraces having fun with fashion and being confident in your own skin … and who does that better than Madonna?”
