*Lil Eazy-E isn’t happy he can’t play his father in the upcoming N.W.A. biopic, “Straight Outta Compton.”
Eazy-E‘s son said his father would have loved for him to be part of the film — honoring him.
“I am my father. I look like him. I sound like him.” And this part is especially galling to Eazy-E’s son … Ice Cube cast HIS own son O’Shea Jackson Jr. to play Cube,” he said.
He added, “The way Lil Eazy sees it … neither he nor O’Shea are seasoned actors, so why not cast both? Dr. Dre’s son is in the same boat … he didn’t get cast either.”
“I actually tried out for the role, ’cause the casting company called me. But my father wanted somebody with more acting experience, and I haven’t been acting for a long time, so I’m happy for the guy that got the role,” he said.
He added, “it’s one of those things where we want what’s best for the movie and for the film. I had a lot of fans that were upset about it, but whatever’s best for the film.”
“Finally found the cast for the NWA movie. Me, Gary Gray, Dre w/ Cube, Eazy & Dre #StraightOuttaCompton coming 8/14/15,” Ice Cube tweeted.
Nevertheless, it seems like Ice Cube is busy putting together the film, and he wants Dr. Dre to take on a larger part with the film as well.
“I’m trying to convince [Dr.] Dre that we should do some new tracks for the movie,” he said. “It’s in very good shape. ‘Straight Outta Compton’ will be shot in August. So we have a director Gary Gray, he’s our director. We have a cast that’s going to be announced in the next week or two, so [it's] full-steam ahead.”
“Straight Outta Compton” will hit theaters on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015.
