*Matt Barnes of the Clippers along with other athletes like Larry Fitzgerald and Antonio Cromartie and others made the Orange Carpet at Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Sports Awards 2014 a family affair on Thursday, July 17 at UCLA Pavilion in Los Angeles.
Our associate, LaCora Stephens, was on the scene to talk to the stars of Nickelodeon’s hit new shows and some of our favorite athletes. Matt Barnes shared that he and his wife Gloria Govan skipped out on the ESPY’s to share this day with their boys. Other athletes like Nate Robinson of the Denver Nuggets talked his injury recovery.
“I’m about 80% healed, just grinding and rehab,” Robinson admitted. “During recovery I watch cartoons with my kids, but I think they need to have a marathon of the classics like ‘Real Monsters’ and ‘Hey, Arnold.’”
Funny man that we all love, Mark Curry, discussed his show “See Dad Run” that’s in its third year on Nickelodeon.
“It’s funny, classy and good for the kids,” he told us.
The “Hanging with Mr. Cooper” star did let us in on a secret about an upcoming project for the adults, all while slamming some of the athletes for wearing skinny jeans. Got to love Mark Curry!
Rising stars like brothers Caleel and Curtis Harris of Think Like a Man Too and hit live-action series The Haunted Hathaways spoke on their greatest athlete Michael Jordan, while Benjamin “Lil P-Nut” Flores Jr. of Ride Along discussed how he was blessed and happy to be a part of the orange carpet.
Dusan Brown of blockbuster hit “42” discussed his new project” Blaze and the Monster Machine.” Dusan is the voice of AJ in Nickelodeon’s animated preschool series coming this fall.
Watch to see athletes like Carmelo Anthony, Lisa Leslie and others on the first ever orange carpet event!
