*In its eleventh year, the #McDonald’s 365Black Awards attracted a who’s who of celebrities, and other notables to New Orleans July 4th weekend as part of the 20th annual Essence Festival.

This year’s awards show honored the achievements of civil rights activist, Reverend Al Sharpton, music executive and entrepreneur Kevin Liles, film producer, Will Packer, inspirational leader, Iyanla Vanzant, former NFL athlete Dhani Jones, McDonald’s Owner/Operator, Henry Coaxum, and young people doing outstanding things in their communities. Presenters include national news correspondent, Soledad O’Brien, actress Michelle Williams, and film director/producer, Warrington Hudlin.

“It’s important to us because we want to recognize all the many people, all across the nation, that are changing our community every day,”  stated McDonald’s Owner/Operator, Marty Gillis.  “Whether it’s in small ways or big ways. And we know how important it is to be involved in our communities, and it’s the spirit of giving back that we know that we want to represent as a business.”

The live event, hosted by actor and E! correspondent, Terrence Jenkins, and actress Tika Sumpter, airs August 10 at 10pm Eastern & Pacific time on BET; and August 17 at 11pm Eastern & Pacific time on Centric.
