N.W.A. biopic*Back in the day, N.W.A. was known for ticking off people with the content of its rhymes. Although the group is no longer together, a casting call for a planned biopic on the collective is raising many eyebrows and triggering outrage for the type of women being sought.

The casting call for “Straight Outta Compton,” which was recently posted on the Facebook page of the Sande Alessi Casting Company, will definitely make you feel some kind of way. It reads as follows:

Needless to say, the original Facebook post for the casting call has since been removed. But not without a slew of angry feedback from those expressing their outrage on the Sande Alessi Casting Facebook page, particularly over the sexist and colorist vibe of the controversial casting call.

In addition, the ad has resulted in claims of racism and classism from people who took offense to the “D” group of women being the associated with an economic class (“poor”) as well as the fact that the group was made up of only dark-skinned, out of shape black women.

A rep for Sande Alessi Casting finally responded to the uproar over the casting call, telling TMZ.com the ad was an “innocent mistake.” As for the classist claim, the company stated that when casting the “poor” people, they’re also looking for women of various skin tones and body types.

The racist claims directed toward the A, B, C, D grouping system were also dismissed by Sande Alessi Casting, which told TMZ that the system is the usual method they use to look for different types of people for any project and it wasn’t meant to offend anyone.

The N.W.A. biopic, “Straight Outta Compton,” is scheduled to arrive in theaters in August 2015.
