*With the start of the upcoming 2014 – 2015 NBA season about 3 months away, the situation regarding Donald Sterling is getting real interesting.
Specifically, Chris Paul, the LA Clippers point guard has spoken with head coach Doc Rivers about putting together a full on boycott if Donald Sterling still owns the team when the season begins, reports ESPN.
“That’s something me and Doc are both talking about,” Paul told the 4 letter network. “Something has to happen, and something needs to happen soon — sooner rather than later.”
Paul also added: “We’re all going to talk about it. We’re all definitely going to talk about it. Doc, Blake [Griffin], DJ [DeAndre Jordan]. It’s unacceptable.”
As we’ve reported, Sterling came under fire when his racist comments in an audio recording went public during this past postseason, ultimately leading to a lifetime ban from the NBA and commissioner Adam Silver vowing to remove him from ownership.
On top of Paul’s comments, earlier this week, during his testimony in the trial that could decide whether Shelly Sterling can sell the Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, interim Clippers CEO Dick Parsons said he didn’t think Rivers would return if Donald Sterling was still the owner.
Closing arguments in that trial are set for Monday.
