Ciara claimed Wednesday that she was “manipulated” and sensationalized in the publication’s story, which had the misleading headline “Ciara Talks About Motherhood and Life After Future Split.”
“@usweekly I did not do this interview with you! This is a lie, and tasteless! Must you be that thirsty to create a story?! Unbelievable!” she tweeted.
Ciara’s beef with Us Weekly stems from the magazine using an interview she gave just before reporting her breakup with Future. The chat in question featured Ciara discussing how she’s in a “clairvoyant place” and wanting to “express that through music” and being a mother to little Future Zahir Wilburn.
“I want to be one of those moms and women that when I look back I know that I always stay focused,” Ciara said. “It’s about keeping your eyes on the prize. Before I had a child, I had goals. And I still have to accomplish those goals, but now that I have a child I have more goals to accomplish. So I can’t waste time. I have to go for it. It actually pushed me harder, and forward.”
Although she deleted her angry response, Ciara returned to Twitter to replace her original post with explaining her actions. As it turned out, she did in fact talk to US. It was her words that were taken out of context,” BET.com noted.
“Be CLEAR @usweekly. I interviewed with your Beauty Editor about Degree & Mtv HOS. U manipulated my words & took the interview for sensation,” tweeted Ciara.
As it stands now, US Weekly hasn’t updated or removed their story on Ciara. In the meanwhile, the entertainer could be directing her wrath at US Weekly for breaking news of her split with Future.
The magazine reports that Ciara was “devastated” when she found out that Future allegedly cheated while he was on tour. Definitely not a good look for a couple that got engaged last year and welcomed their son three month ago.
