*Jay Z used his “On the Run” tour stop in California Sunday to voice support for a proposed new state law to reduce prison time for non-violent offenses.

The rap mogul shouted out California’s Proposition 47, also known as The Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act, before launching into “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)” at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

“Prop 47! California! Build more schools, less prisons. More schools, less prisons. They will never be able to stop us!” he told the crowd.

The new law, which will be voted on in November, aims to cut prison time for crimes including petty theft and drug possession and channel the money saved back into schools, rehab treatment programs and victims’ services.
