*In the current second season of Showtime’s “Ray Donovan,” new cast member Wendell Pierce has his hands full as a down-and-out parole officer who ends up on the payroll of the title character, a Hollywood fixer played by Liev Schreiber.
Ray needs Pierce’s Mr. Keith to help keep his unruly and unpredictable father Mickey (Jon Voight) from getting out of pocket in the cover up of a shooting.
Pierce, coming off NBC’s cancelled “Michael J. Fox Show” and the recently-wrapped HBO series “Treme,” says working with Voight is like attending a master class.
“Jon is a consummate creator,” says Pierce. “He’s always thinking about what is going to fuel the scene, what is going to fuel his character. And so you never take things for granted, and it’s been a pleasure to work with an entire company that way, from the producers and writers to all the actors. It’s a world of creation.”
When Donovan first tracks down Mr. Keith in a casino, he’s just gambled away a ton of money that was supposed to pay for his daughter’s $15,000 wedding dress. He’s desperate, and therefore putty in Donovan’s karat-dangling hands.
