‘The Making of a Fatherless Daughter’ Doc. is Helping to Heal Wounds & Rewrite a Tragic Story

*Pasadena, CA: Global Life/Success Strategist and TV/Radio Host,  Angela Carr Patterson, is on a mission to rewrite the tragic story of fatherlessness and it’s impact on women through her highly acclaimed documentary, “The Making of a Fatherless Daughter” which will be screened on April 29th, 3:30PM at The Pasadena City College, 1570 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA, 91106.

This film chronicles the lives of 8 brave women who pushed beyond their pain and shattered their shame to bare their souls about what it felt like to be abandoned, ignored and forgotten by a father who was supposed to love them. Embracing the courage to relive what they believed were some of the most painful times in their lives, these women have now become a part of a movement to help fatherless women awaken to the truth of who they are and reclaim their worth and rewrite a new narrative for their lives.

The Making of a Fatherless Daughter is a film that’s filled with a powerful and rich message. It was created with two intentions and that is to elevate the awareness of the negative impact that fatherlessness has on a female’s life and to demonstrate the truth that fatherless daughters are not born fatherless, but they are made fatherless through no fault of their own.

This film brings an emotional power and immediacy to an issue in a way that the written word cannot. It captures the pure essence of each woman’s story by creatively engaging their pain without exploiting their suffering. These heart stirring stories will help viewers to understand the power of awareness and forgiveness to transform and heal a broken heart. Audiences will leave knowing they too can overcome the painful ache and insurmountable odds of fatherlessness.

The Making of a Fatherless Daughter is Executive Produced by Angela Carr Patterson, a former entertainment executive, and is free and open to the public. Following the viewing of the film, the audience will participate in a short open panel discussion on how our community can rewrite this tragic story of fatherlessness.

“We are in a crisis when it comes to women and girls,” says Carr Patterson, Founder of The Fatherless Daughters Network, a movement aimed at elevating the awareness of the negative effects fatherlessness has on a female’s life and offering support/services to decrease its long term impact.

Angela points to the dire statistics that plague fatherless girls: 71 percent teen pregnancies, 72 percent lower standard of living, and five times more likely to commit suicide. Fatherless girls/women also have a higher percentage of being seriously, and often fatally, abused.

“This issue is impacting our families, our daughters and our communities, we cannot read statistics like this and turn away,” says Carr Patterson, who grew up without her biological father. She chronicled her own fatherless story and healing in her 2012 book release, Im Not That Woman…A Fatherless Daughter’s Journey to Being.

Pasadena is the second stop of a six city tour where Angela will show this film. This event is free and open to the public. Yet, attendees must pre-register at www.themakingofafatherlessdaughter.com  in order to attend.
