*(NEW YORK, N.Y. ) – On October 2, 2014, the eve of National Magic Week,International Master Magician ICE McDonald, the newly elected National President of the Society of American Magicians (S.A.M.) along with S.A.M.’s National Dean, George Schindler and one of the Society’s Senior Officers David Bowers will visit the gravesite of world famous escape artist Harry Houdini. Houdini was also a national president of the S.A.M. from 1917 until his death on October 31, 1926. Founded in 1902 in Martinka’s famous magic shop in New York, the S.A.M. is the oldest and most prestigious magic organization in the world. They have promoted the ideals shared by Kellar, Houdini, Thurston and more than 47,000 others world-wide who have held membership in the society. Their mission is to promote an environment for the worldwide magic community that fosters fellowship, preservation of the magical arts, ethical standards, education and personal growth.
