She’s got me laying here by the phone/I can’t keep spending the night alone/I’ve got all I could ever want/But it just ain’t enough, if it ain’t you baby
The anguish in Adrian Marcel’s voice on the chorus of “Spending the Night Alone” is the longing of a man living without love.
His latest single follows in the tradition of the great R&B/Soul ballads about lost love, an emotion often overridden in today’s music marketplace, but Marcel’s vulnerability on the track gives the impression that he’s singing from experience, from life.
After the wildly successful “2AM” (featuring Sage the Gemini), Marcel is looking to capitalize off his recent run as opener for Keyshia Cole’s “Point of No Return” tour with the release of “Spending the Night Alone” and this summer’s Week After Next mixtape.
