So much so that the former NFL and MLB star is weighing in on the athlete after admitting to talking to Winston before his troubles overshadowed his play on the field.
“I have communicated with him, and I just talked to him like I was his dad, Jackson said in a recent interview on the Jim Rome Show. “The things that you need to do. And this was before the incident where he was [suspended] from the baseball team [for stealing crab legs].
Jackson’s comments come amid troubling times for Winston, who led the Florida State University Seminoles to the BCS Championship in his freshman season. Earlier this week, media sources reported on talk surrounding whether the football standout may have been compensated for signing autographs that have appeared for purchase through JSA.
The university’s probe of Winston echoes what happened to Todd Gurley, a Georgia running back who was suspended as an investigation into his alleged paid signings for the company is currently underway.
In addition, thegrio.com noted that Winston is being investigated by FSU for details regarding an alleged sexual assault that took place in 2012 to see if Winston potentially violated the university’s code of conduct. Since arriving at FSU, he athlete has been charged with theft and suspended for his team’s game against Clemson this year for standing on a table in the dining hall and yelling “f**k her right in the pussy,”
I really don’t know who is giving this young man guidance,” said Jackson. “Jameis Winston needs to make some changes in his life. Because it’s affecting him now, and it’s definitely going to affect him down the road.”
