During a recent episode of her daytime TV talk show, DeGeneres donated $10,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where Leah Still is being treated as well as announced plans to get her fellow celebrities to sign her Bengals jersey.
The talk show plans to auction off the jersey to raise more money to help Leah’s battle with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a form of cancer.
“I hope Leah knows how much we love her,” DeGeneres said before revealing her donation. “We’re going to give the children’s hospital of Philadelphia $10,000.”
News of DeGeneres’ donation comes a few weeks after Leah had surgery after she was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma. Since news of Leah’s situation came out, she has received an outpouring of love and support. According to Devon Still, his daughter is on the road to recovery.
“She doing good. She just finished up her fifth round of chemo. This one hit her kind of hard,” he explained. “She’s a fighter. She’s going to continue to fight,” he told Ellen while sharing what Leah wants to be when she grows up.
“I was actually sitting in the hospital a few days ago and she looked up at me and said, ‘I want to be a nurse when I grow up. I just want to help out kids who have cancer too.’”
