Cast of 'Hollywood Divas' Dish About New Show

*First comes “R&B Divas Atlanta.” Then comes “R&B Divas LA.” Now comes “Hollywood Divas.”

TV One’s latest reality series, “Hollywood Divas,” follows actresses Elise Neal (‘The Hughleys’), Golden Brooks (‘Girlfriends’), Paula Jai Parker (‘Hustle and Flow’), Countess Vaughn (‘The Parkers’) and Lisa Wu (‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’) as they attempt to stay relevant in the unpredictable world of entertainment.

The divas dished with EUR about why established actresses would sign up for a reality show.

Countess Vaughn: As a black actress you have to create jobs for yourself because jobs are so limited out there. I wanted to show that and show that it’s not easy.

Paula Jai Parker

Paula Jai Parker: Doing a reality show is something I’ve always had in the back of my mind. Everyone else is doing it! Why don’t we do it! The young ladies that are doing reality shows, are doing them to become actresses…so I’m thinking…I’m already an actress…so why not do a reality show! But I didn’t have a name to get a show done, so when TV One was looking for someone…I was like, ‘hey, look at me, look over here!’

golden brooks

Golden Brooks: I was resistant to doing this show at first but I knew that I could use this medium to get my voice and opinion across. We’ve never go into the actual lives of five black women…who people already know…and seen their day to day journey. This is not us pulling someone’s weave off or saying, ‘you took my man!’ Most of the show is about our ins and outs and how this business effects us, and what we do with that.

Elisa Neal

Elise Neal: A lot of times with entertainers there are 5,000 sides to you and nobody knows you…except for that one role or that one show. For me creating my own thing gets people to know more about who I am.

Lisa Wu

Lisa Wu: A lot of people are saying, ‘you left The Real Housewives of Atlanta, why are you doing this show?’…Because all of the ladies on this show are actresses! A lot of people don’t know that I started from acting, writing, and producing. I did a play 19 years ago that I wrote, produced, and Tyler Perry directed. I’ve been doing a lot of movies and a lot of people don’t know that. This show just makes sense.

Executive produced by, Todd Tucker, “Hollywood Divas” joins TV Ones hot reality series line-up on October 8th.
