*Everyone needs an escape!

This weekend enjoy yours at the theater while watching ‘Addiction‘! The sexy and provocative thriller based on the best-selling novel by Zane, opens nationwide on October 10th.

EUR sat down with the leading man Boris Kodjoe and Tasha Smith (Dr. Marcella) to find out how they like to escape.

EUR: What are your top three ‘Addictions?’

Tasha Smith: My glam squad, a good Spanxs and my husband! I got to have him!

Boris Kodjoe: Running away with my wife, tennis and ironing shirts! I love ironing shirts its mediation for me.

AddictedEUR: How did you prepare for this role? Did you attend any sex classes?

Tasha Smith: I went to a lot of sex addiction anonymous classes, I talked to a lot of therapist and I learned a lot about mental health. The movie has a great balance! It’s sexy, it’s a thriller, it’s funny, it’s entertaining!

It is such a stigma in the African American community to be treated by a psychiatrist and I hope that this movie and character will inspire people to go and get help and talk to someone. I hope Dr. Marcella puts a face on therapy that makes people feel safe and go seek healing.

Boris Kodjoe: I spoke with my mom because she’s a psychologist and treats people with addictions. I learned how and why people use addictions as excuses and about the guilt that plays a role in addictions.

AddictedEUR: If your spouse or significant other had a sex addiction would you leave them or remain in the relationship?

Boris Kodjoe: Every circumstance is different. My first impulse would be to stay and try to help but you’re dealing with heartbreak, disappointment and infidelity…there is so much that goes into it.. There’s a lot of guilt that goes onto the other partners as well. Like ‘why didn’t I know, was I blind, was I not present enough, what was my responsibility in this?’ Therapy is key!

AddictedThe film also stars Sharon Leal, Tyson Beckford, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Kat Graham, and William Levy and is directed by Bille Woodruff from a screenplay by Christina Welsh and Ernie Barbarash.
