*Will Smith and Tom Hardy are looking to join director David Ayers for the superhero pic “Suicide Squad,” based on the DC comic series about super-villains who are forced to go on covert missions for a shadowy government agency, Deadline reported.
“The Wolf of Wall Street” star Margot Robbie is also in talks for a role in the film, according to the Deadline.
It’s unclear what roles the actors would be playing in the movie that’s planned for a 2016 release. But the team roster in the comics has included the likes of the assassins Deadshot and Deathstroke, Aquaman foil Black Manta, Joker sidekick Harley Quinn, and Flash foil Captain Cold.
Will Smith previously dabbled in the superhero genre with “Hancock.”
Warner Bros’ earlier this week announced its plan to bring 10-12 DC superhero movies to the big screen through 2020. The first of those films, “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” – which introduces Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman to Henry Cavill’s Superman — lands on March 5, 2016.
