*He may not have gotten what he asked for, but George Wallace was awarded $1.3 million in damages for a lawsuit he filed.
The Associated Press reports that although the 62-year-old stand-up comic wanted at least $7.1 million from the Bellagio Las Vegas hotel-casino, he is happy with what he ultimately received from the eight-member jury.
The verdict, which came after two weeks of testimony in Clark County District Court and about 12 hours of deliberations, caps off the lawsuit, which centered around an injury Wallace says he suffered while performing at the Bellagio in 2007.
Despite the funnyman testifying that he’s permanently hobbled after tangling his leg in wiring onstage, attorneys for the Bellagio denied the hotel and its employees were responsible for Wallace’s Achilles tendon injury. The entertainer sustained the injury while he was giving a private performance for HSBC Card Services Inc., according to the AP.
