*There’s no question that Serena Williams is one of the most gifted tennis players to play the game. And her attitude while playing the game contributes to that.

In a recent issue of Fitness magazine, Williams opens up about the difference between how she is on the tennis court versus how she really is when she’s off the court.

“There’s the Serena Williams that everyone knows: She’s crazy… She can’t make a mistake… And she’s angry and just not nice, to be honest. I’m only that person for three hours a day when I’m on the court. The rest of the time I’m just Serena. I’m the class clown.” Venus’ sister told Fitness while admitting that she has a take no prisoners mind state when it’s game time. “Even for me, it’s shocking to see. But in another way, it’s kind of cool to know that I have everything together on the court, because I don’t really have my life together personally.”

Although she has a clear handle on how she is on and off the tennis court, Williams says she is well aware about talk regarding her not having the appropriate “body type.”

“When I was young I thought I should be built more like an athlete-long and lean-not with a womanly figure,” said the athlete, who has learned to embrace her curves and body image without any feeling of guilt. So much so that Williams knows she is viewed as a positive role model by many young women.
