tamala jones (on the real)

*(Beverly Hills, CA) — Playing doctor with the cast of Fox‘s fun new gabfest “The Real” came easy to actress Tamala Jones, in fact you might call her a natural. Currently, Jones plays Dr. Lanie Parish on the ABC drama “Castle” and looked like a seven season vet when she joined hosts Tamar Braxton, Tamara Mowry-Housley, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai and Adrienne Bailon in a game of doctor.

A survivor and spokesperson for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, Jones also stopped by to announce the celebrity story reading and toy distribution series Jingle Holiday Drive, affectionately known as “Jingle All The Way”, to raise awareness of brain aneurysms and brain related illnesses in children and young adults.

Jones will engage celebrity friends and peers like Holly Robinson-Peete (“Mike & Molly”), Kim Whitley (“We Bought A Zoo”), Keith Robinson  (“Get On Up”), The Tankard Family from Bravo’s “Thicker Than Water”, to read classic holiday stories to children and distribute toys in select cities like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C.

“My aneurysm ruptured at 23 and while that is young there are babies suffering from brain aneurysms and other brain related illness” says Jones.  “The holidays for a tough time for a lot of people, this event is important because it brings joy to all involved while shining a light on an illness few truly understand and even fewer discuss.”

As a brain aneurysm activist and spokesperson, Jones’ primary focus is on early detection and erasing the stigma and misconceptions associated with brain illness.

“I hope to accomplish two key things to start: raise awareness that results in more CAT scans and MRIs when their is head injury or prolonged head pain; and to inject a little entertainment, sexiness and fun into the brain aneurysm community to remove any shame, guilt or fear over an uncontrolled illness that does not define you–me!”

The website www.JingleHolidayDrive is active now.  Celebrity story readings and toy distribution events will be held the week of December 15December 20.
