*The New York Times captured video of Michael Brown’s stepfather Louis Head shouting “Burn this b**ch down” through tears in the immediate aftermath of the grand jury’s decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson for Brown’s death.
His emotional reaction came as Brown’s mother Lesley McSpadden – standing atop a car – broke down in front of the crowd, explaining how she had never harmed anyone and felt sadness for what the grand jury ruled.
Head joined her on top of the car and embraced her for several moments. He then turned around and shouted repeatedly to the crowd: “Burn this b**ch down! Burn this b**ch down!”
Michael Brown’s father, Michael Brown, Sr., had been pleading for peace for weeks before last night’s grand jury decision.
At a family press conference this morning in St. Louis, CNN’s Don Lemon asked the Brown family’s attorney Benjamin Crump about the stepfather’s reaction .
Crump called it, “Raw emotion. Not appropriate at all, completely inappropriate. God forbid your child is killed the way they killed [Michael]. And then they get that devastating announcement, and the manner it was announced, and somebody puts a camera on your face, what would be your immediate reaction? Don’t condemn him for being human!”
