*Wendy Williams made no mention this morning of the backlash over her much-maligned Aaliyah biopic that she executive produced for Lifetime.
On her talk show Monday, she would only say that she was happy people were talking about the movie (whether good or bad) and that it was a ratings success. Fans were wondering how she would address the controversy, and here’s what she had to say:
“I see my Aaliyah movie broke the Internet this weekend! Errbody got an opinion. Well, I must tell you, whether you loved or hate, you watched. It was the second-highest rated movie on all of cable this year so far.”
Wendy also made a point to shout out the film’s star Alexandra Shipp, who has also been criticized on social media for agreeing to take the role.
“You did a terrific job as Aaliyah,” Wendy said before moving on to another hot topic.
