*The glory days of playing for the Chicago Bears are definitely behind William “The Refrigerator” Perry as he stands to lose the home of his late father.
Charlotte, NC’s WBTV reports that the former NFL great, who lives in the home, is at odds with his younger brother, Michael Dean Perry, over the Aiken, SC residence, which the station notes is in “a state of eroding despair.”
Although he wouldn’t talk on camera, Michael Dean Perry, who is William’s assigned guardian and conservator for his affairs, told WBTV that the situation with the home was “a family matter.”
As it stands now, William’s older brother, Willie Perry, keeps tabs on the home. Still, that hasn’t prevented it from being burglarized and vandalized.
“They’ve kicked the door in so many times it’s not funny,” Willie Perry said.
In regard to efficiency with the home, “The Fridge” is not impressed with Michael Dean Perry.
“He’s doing a so-so job and everything as far getting things done,” William Perry told WBTV about his sibling.
Michael Dean Perry acknowledged that Aiken County tax collectors office sent out a letter saying that William owes more than $26,000 in back taxes, and says the court will not allow him to save this home.
For Willie Perry, it looks to be a case of family frustration.
“I wouldn’t say a lot of confusion,” he said, ”Probably more of a lot of disappointment.”
Michael Dean Perry revealed that William can’t legally pay taxes on the home since he reportedly signed it over to his estranged wife. Nevertheless, William Perry remains hopeful that a positive outcome will emerge out of the situation.
“I don’t expect anything negative out of the situation,” the “Fridge” said. “You expect everything will come together workout, and move on.”
Hopefully, William was able to pay off the taxes. The deadline, which was Nov. 5, has come and gone.
