*Temple University announced that Bill Cosby has resigned from his position on the school’s Board of Trustees.
The comedian attended the school in the 60s and participated in football and track. According to the Associated Press, Cosby did not want to be a distraction as he continues to deal with multiple allegations of sexual assault.
“I have always been proud of my association with Temple University. I have always wanted to do what would be in the best interests of the university and its students. As a result, I have tendered my resignation from the Temple University Board of Trustees,” Cosby said in a statement released this afternoon.
Andrea Constand, who worked for Temple’s women’s basketball team, filed suit against Cosby in 2004, claiming he drugged and sexually assaulted her. She filed a lawsuit and Cosby settled in 2006.
Cosby and his wife have donated money to Temple and a scholarship was created in their name.
