*Former NFL/New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper has been indicted on multiple rape allegations.
The District attorney’s spokesman Christopher Bowman stated that Sharper was indicted Friday on two counts of aggravated rape. The indictments stem from accusations that the athlete sexually assaulted two impaired women in 2013.
In addition, two of Sharper’s friends Brandon Licciardi and Erik Nunez, are charged with aggravated rape as well. Licciardi is charged with three counts of human trafficking for the purposes of providing sexual conduct, while Nunez is charged with obstruction of justice, the Associated Press reports.
Sharper’s indictment is the latest development to take place regarding his situation. The athlete, who has been in jail in California since Feb. 27, is currently awaiting his next hearing in California regarding charges of drugging and raping two women in Los Angeles County.
He faces similar allegations in two other states, according to the AP.
