*Based on reviews of Mariah Carey’s Monday night holiday concert in New York, the singer seemed to have redeemed herself vocally from the struggle of last week’s Rockefeller Center performance – but other stuff happened throughout the night that put the singer right back in the headlines.
At one point during her All I Want for Christmas Is You: A Night of Joy and Festivity show at the Beacon Theatre, the 44-year-old singer had a shoe malfunction and had to continue the performance with one red heel on, and the other in her hand.
Later in the show, the newly single star began crying while singing “Hero,” reports E! Online. Sporting a low-cut, cleavage-baring red ball gown, she looked visibly emotional and wiped away tears as she sang her power ballad.
During the same song, Carey stopped the orchestra mid-performance after a part of her mic pack that was connected to her earpiece fell off her dress. “Really? I’m sorry. Cut!” Carey sang as she bent down to pick up a piece of the contraption. “I’m gonna take these out and leave them out!”
One of her helpers rushed on stage to help Carey with her shoe problem, which she blamed on “the sweat.” Once she was all fixed up, Carey started belting out “Hero” again as the audience cheered.
