Whether it was her refusal to sing during the rain, or her refusal to cut short a phone call with her divorce attorney that delayed her scheduled taped performance at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting on Tuesday, Mariah Carey instead sang live during Wednesday’s 8 p.m. broadcast on NBC – and it wasn’t pretty.

The singer opened the hour-long special with her rendition of “All I Want For Christmas” and Twitter immediately exploded with disapproval of her vocals – including an inability to hit the high notes, or skipping them altogether.
