*Sacramento, CA. — California Assembly Member Mike Gipson (AD64) hit the ground running after his Sacramento swearing-in ceremony on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014. He was promptly appointed to chair the powerful Joint Legislative Audit Committee.
The committee handles both mandated audits required by statute and discretionary audits to evaluate any state agency, city, county, school or special district.
“I am honored to chair this important committee,” said Assembly Member Gipson. “Transparency and accountability are fundamentals of good governance. I look forward to working with the committee members as we move forward with this arm of monitoring taxpayer dollars.”
Gipson was also appointed to the following committees: Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy; Governmental Organization; Revenues and Taxation; and Aging and Long-Term Care.
Mike Gipson, a former Carson City Councilmember was elected in November 2014 to represent the 64th Assembly District. The district includes the cities of Carson, Compton, Gardena, Harbor Gateway, Lynwood, North Long Beach, Rancho Dominguez, South Los Angeles, Torrance, Watts/Willowbrook and Wilmington.
