*Mo’Ne Davis is a groundbreaking pioneer — having broke records with not one, but two shutouts in Little League World Series — being a huge reason behind her team’s winning.
And not only did she garner the cover of Sports Illustrated as the first Little Leaguer, she was also voted their 2014 Sports Kid of the Year, as Essence reported.
“My life has changed a lot in the past couple of months,” Davis said. “I get to meet all my idols and everyone I’ve looked up to since I was younger.”
She acknowledged the lack thereof women in her sport — calling it male-dominated, yet she seems happy being a youth and a pioneer in it.
“It’s pretty crazy because you never see women in male sports,” she said. “Just for me to be the starter of it is great.”
But don’t get it wrong, she’s still down to earth and multitalented. She was also named to her varsity basketball team as an eighth-grader, according to USA Today.
“I just want to enjoy everything that’s coming my way and all of the exciting moments that I’m going to be doing,” she said.
