*The Los Angeles Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (TAI) held an installation ceremony of new officers on Friday, December 19th. The list is as follows: Ron Brewington, President; Nicole Ballou, MD, 1st Vice President; Sallie Pratt, 2nd Vice President; Errol Lewis, Secretary; Leslie Orticke, Treasurer; Simeon Ginyard, Public Relations; Daniel Minor, Financial Secretary; and William Upton, Parliamentarian.
Newly-elected board members include Rosanna Beaumont, Cecil Clark, Wayne Hedgpeth, and Dorothy Thornhill. The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American military pilots in the U.S. armed forces. The acclaimed movie ‘Red Tails’ is a depiction of their place in American (and world) history.
The community-based group holds monthly (3rd Friday) meetings at the Department of Water & Power, 4030 Crenshaw Blvd. at 6:00 pm.
In addition to being an associate professor of communications at Santa Monica College in California, Brewington is also national vice president of the Motown Alumni Association, and a regular host on web-based entertainment talk-show ActorsE Chat.
We congratulate him in his new TAI position and recognition for his devotion and unwavering commitment to the group. He says, ‘Their story needs to be told with accuracy and preserved for the ages.’
