*Fox knows it’s got a hit on its hands with “Empire” and is not wasting anytime locking it up for a second season.

At the winter Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour in Pasadena, CA, that EURweb is covering, Fox also announced that it ordered a second seasons for freshman series “Gotham” as well as a third season “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”

Empire debuted with record-breaking ratings to become FOX’s highest-rated debut in years. According to Nielsen ratings, “Empire” captured 9.9 million viewers for its premiere episode. As we reported, the show’s numbers actually improved in its second outing which is rather rare.

Speaking of numbers, “Gotham” has averaged a nice 10.6 million viewers, and a 4.2 rating in adults 18-49; “Empire,” meanwhile, is averaging 10.3 million viewers and a 5.3 adults 18-49 rating. So it’s no wonder Fox is renewing these shows.
