*Former Essence editor Angela Burt-Murray was excited to announce the book she worked on with Denene Millner and Ebony editor-in-chief Mitzi Miller, “The Vow,” was being turned into a movie for Lifetime last summer.
Now that the long overdue adaption — retitled “With This Ring” — is premiering tonight on Lifetime. The film stars some of Black Hollywood’s finest: Regina Hall, Eve, Brooklyn Sudano and Jill Scott.
The three stars play best friends who are all single. The ladies attend a wedding of another on New Year’s Eve.
Their desperation pushes them to make a pact to be married within the next year, but it’s a struggle making it to the altar within the next 12 months.
The ladies stopped by the “Today Show” to discuss their highly-anticipated film and finding love in their personal lives.
Hall once made a pact with her friends to be married by a certain age. But she’s not married and living that single, Hollywood life.
Scott gave an ex-boyfriend an ultimatum to marry her. He proposed, but then she realized it was a bad decision. She is currently single.
And as for Eve, she got married to British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper in June 2014.
“It’s honestly really good. It’s different but I love it. I’m really happy,” she said.
Nzingha Stewart, “The Game,” writes and directs the film, which will premiere on Lifetime tonight, Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 at 8/7c.
