*A behind-the-scenes video has surfaced showing the making of a “Harlem Hopscotch,” a dance-driven accompaniment to Maya Angelou’s musical pairing on the Caged Bird Songs album.

The video was released in December, but now we get a closer look from its directors — Emmy Award-winning duo Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo, also known as NappyTabs.

“What we want people to take away from this video is that when you step in this hopscotch path, it’s representative of the path of your life,” Tabitha Dumo says in the new piece. “You can approach it in many different ways. You’re a little nervous maybe about taking that first step, but once you’re in enjoy the ride.”

“I would hope that we could encourage adults to look at this hopscotch path and think about how they would be as a kid and approach their daily ice that way,” she adds.
