*Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone will star as Adonis Creed and Rocky in “Creed” while “Dear White People” star Tessa Thompson will co-star.
But the cast got a recent great addition! Phylicia Rashad will play Jordan’s grandmother and Apollo Creed’s (Carl Weathers) widow, Mary Anne.
Jordan is playing the grandson of Rocky’s enemy-turned-best friend and mentor. Rocky will reluctantly train and mentor Adonis’ boxing career, according to the Wrap.
Ryan Coogler will direct the film. It will be the second time he paired up with Jordan who starred in the critically-acclaimed “Fruitvale Station.”
Stallone is producing the film with Kevin King and as well with the original “Rocky” producers Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff. The film will be released in 2016.
