President Obama Spends MLK Jr. Day at the Boys & Girls Club

President Barack Obama at Boys & Girls Club*While most people remembered the past, President Barack Obama was focused on the future as he, first lady Michelle Obama and their daughter Malia honored Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Monday at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington.

The first family spent Martin Luther King, Jr. Day helping to paint murals and assembling “literacy kits” filled with flash cards and books for children. Obama continued his activity at the Boys & Girls Club as he was seen reading and writing with the youth.

The Boys & Girls Club visit, which also included senior adviser Valerie Jarrett and Cabinet Secretary Broderick Johnson, was part of a series of activities was among a series of community service projects conducted by many in the president’s cabinet in remembrance of King.
