TAYO’s History Cartoon: ‘Slavery was Just as Bad’

slavery - holocaust*Its seventy years since the holocaust and watching a series of stories told by surviving Holocaust victims now in their 80s and 90s, it is still as fresh in their minds as it was 70 years ago.

It is difficult not to feel emotional as well listening to their harrowing stories and seeing them cry. No human being should be treated or degraded like they are nothing or treated like animals and sometimes worse than animals. No one  is human if you do not feel the atrocities of the Holocaust. Years back, I watched Schindler’s List  a historical period drama, directed by Steven Spielberg. It moved me to tears. I read my former Art tutor and legendary Comic Artist Joe Kubert’s YOSSELL and got to know more of how no one, young, old, babies, boy, girl, children, men and women was spared the atrocities of the Holocaust.

I have had my fair share of knowledge of researching about African slavery for my drawings. I have watched slavery productions such as Alex Haley’s ROOTS, AMISTAD, AMAZING GRACE, 12 YEARS A SLAVE and can easily conclude by stating the obvious, that the Slave Trade era was just as bad.
