unnamed (15)*Compton, Calif — Mike Gipson, newly elected California Assemblymember for the 64th District will be sworn-in at a public community ceremony at California State University, Dominguez Hills on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at 10 a.m.

“I am excited that the community, who not only voted for me but also supported me in my efforts of service for many years, will join me on this occasion,” said Assemblymember Gipson. “As the elected official representing the 64th District, I remain committed to quality of life issues including health, education, jobs, aging and public safety.”

Assemblymember Gipson will also share his vision and legislative plans for the District along with the strides he has already made during his short time in office. The public is invited and encouraged to RSVP by email, [email protected] or by calling (310) 223-1201.

There will be complimentary parking for the event at the CSUDH campus in Lot 3. Student Ambassadors will direct the public to the Campus Theater.Transportation to and from the ceremony for seniors and handicapped has been arranged from three locations in the district: Watts Senior Center, 1657 E. Century Blvd., Los Angeles 90002 Tel. (310) 217-5650.  The pick-up time will be 8:30 a.m. and buses will return after the ceremony. Passengers should call the Centers to reserve their seats.

Rounding off the celebratory day, there will be a free community ‘Praise and Worship’ Gospel Concert hosted by Pastor Frederick Howard, 7:00 p.m. at Southside Bethel Baptist Church, 10400 So. San Pedro St., L.A. 90003.

Gospel choirs from local area churches have organized this incredible event to honor Assemblymember Gipson. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.

Mike Gipson, a former Carson City Councilmember was elected in November 2014 to represent the 64th Assembly District. The district includes the cities of Carson, Compton, Gardena, Harbor Gateway, Lynwood, North Long Beach, Rancho Dominguez, South Los Angeles, Torrance, Watts/Willowbrook and Wilmington.
