*”Being Mary Jane” star Gabrielle Union says her hubby of six months, Dwyane Wade, did not abandon his romantic side once they jumped the broom.
People magazine caught up with the couple at the recent 8th Annual All-Star Bowling Classic in New York City this weekend, where they revealed he still writes her love poems.
“They’re about love and devotion and his feelings,” Union said. “And they’re really impressive. Like, at first I thought he had a ghost writer.”
But Wade gave all the credit to Union for being his inspiration behind the romantic notes.
“She’s appreciative of how hard I work and loving goes a long way. She’s in support of my career, my choices, and when you’re the man of the family sometimes you have to make choices and she supports me in them, good or bad, and that’s unmatched, so I’m appreciative.”
As far as how the couple celebrated their first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife, they said it’s normal for them to be at the All-Star festivities. While Wade didn’t play the game this year because of an injury to his hamstring, they supported his charity, Wade’s World, that assists special programs for at-risk youth in communities.
“On this day, it’s about loving. It’s about appreciation. For us, we’re very appreciative of what God has blessed us with, what we have and that’s what we’re here for – to makes sure that we give back to others that don’t have much.”
