*As if the En Vogue divide wasn’t enough drama for the group, now a record label is suing them for backing out of a deal in which the original members signed.
According to TMZ, Maxine Jones, Cindy Herron and Terry Ellis were signed under Rufftown Entertainment and were planning a comeback in 2010. Dawn Robinson didn’t sign the deal, although she continued to tour with the group.
The label’s owner Rene Moore (of Rene & Angela fame) said the ladies backed out of the deal. He claimed they cost him more than a $100 million fortune.
TMZ even received video of the ladies happily recording music for an album back in 2011. But in 2014, Herron and Ellis signed with Pyramid Records under the En Vogue name with Rhona Bennett.
Jones and Robinson officially left the group in 2012, and they attempted to make their own version of En Vogue. A judge sided with Herron and Ellis on use of the name.
