*A freelance journalist somehow got her hands on the diary of James Brown’s widow, and is now fighting a court order for her to reveal how it came into her possession.

Reporter Sue Summer was anonymously sent the diary of Brown’s widow Tommie Rae Brown last week and published it on her Facebook page.

Summer’s attorney Jay Bender says he has asked the South Carolina Supreme Court to stop a Monday afternoon hearing because it would violate the shield law that protects reporters from revealing sources.

Bender says he hasn’t heard back from the justices, so he was heading to Aiken County for the hearing along with Summer.

A judge has ordered the diary of Tommie Rae Brown to be kept secret as the fight over James Brown’s estate enters its ninth year.
