*Sherri Shepherd’s efforts to avoid the responsibility of raising her kids goes deeper than the current situation with the surrogate mother of her newborn baby.
Blacktimetravel.com cited a past episode of “The View” when the ladies on the show were discussing abortion. During that discussion, Shepherd said, “I’m speaking as a girl who had a lot of abortions…If they had showed me a fetus, I probably wouldn’t have, but I would have put my child in a lot of situations that wouldn’t have been good because I didn’t have the mental capacity to deal with having a child. It was real difficult”
The old episode was brought up as the site addressed the former daytime TV co-host’s habit of bringing kids into the world in the past, but not going the extra mile in taking on her motherly duties.
Blacktimetravel’s attention to Shepherd’s situation comes amid reports of her surrogate, Jessica Bartholomew, stating that the child was on welfare because the comedienne reneged on the deal they had. Media sources report that Shepherd, despite the money she’s earned during her professional lifetime, hasn’t contributed anything financially to Bartholomew towards the care of the child.
Bartholomew voiced her troubles with Shepherd during a recent interview with “Inside Edition,” claiming that Sheperd doesn’t want anything to do with baby Lamar Jr. (who doesn’t carry any of her DNA) in light of her going through a messy divorce with the child’s father Lamar Sally.
As a result, the state of California is coming down on Bartholomew for child support on top of her being listed as a “noncustodial parent,” on the birth certificate.
“Because [Sherri Shepherd] doesn’t want to be a part of the baby’s life, I have to pick up all the slack with my name being on the birth certificate, a noncustodial parent, medical bills,” Bartholomew told “Inside Edition.” I’m still considered the mother of a child that’s not mine.”
