Tyrese Brings ‘Desert Eagle’ to Universal While Issa Rae Gets ‘Insecure’ With HBO

Deadline.com reports that Universal Pictures has optioned ‘Desert Eagle,’ an action film written by the entertainer and Mike Le. In addition to writing “Desert Eagle,” Tyrese’s involvement extends to serving as the film’s executive producer via his company Voltron Filmz.

“Desert Eagle” involves a story about two agents who investigate a drug cartel running out of a Native American reservation casino, according to Deadline.

Scott Stuber (“Ted 2”) will serve as producer for the film through his company Bluegrass Films as Matthew Stuecken and Josh Campbell have come aboard “Desert Eagle” to rewrite the script.

Tyrese’s business accomplishment comes as he gears up to promote the much- anticipated “Furious 7,” which arrives in theaters on April 3.

issa raeAs plans for “Desert Eagle” get in motion, Issa Rae is making moves on the small screen.

The folks at Deadline noted that the “Awkward Black Girl” creator just received a pilot order from HBO regarding her TV show, “Insecure.” The site goes on to mention that the series will focus on the “awkward experiences and racy tribulations of a modern day African-American woman.”
