UPDATE:

TMZ is reporting that two women are involved in Warren Sapp’s arrest for soliciting a prostitute.

The two women told police they were at the hotel “as escorts” and went to Sapp’s room, where an argument broke out over money. The women claim the argument turned physical and spilled out into the hallway. Cops say the women had injuries consistent with a struggle.

Regarding Sapp, officials said “he was questioned and admitted involvement in the act of prostitution, but denied assaulting the females.”

Both women involved in the incident received citations from police — one for prostitution, the other for a violation of the City’s escort permit requirements. Both women were released.

Meanwhile, Sapp has been suspended indefinitely from the NFL Network without pay pending the outcome of the investigation, according to NFL Network spokesman Alex Riethmiller.

PREVIOUS STORY:

NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp was up early after the Super Bowl, but not too early for the cops.

The former NFL star was arrested at 7 a.m. Monday morning in Phoenix, accused of soliciting a prostitute, reports TMZ.

The hotel where Sapp was staying told TMZ through a rep that they were “contacted by the Phoenix Police Dept. today in a matter involving a guest. We are cooperating with police as they look into the situation since it is an active investigation. We have no further comment.”

Sapp was also arrested for assault, but no further details about the allegation were given.

Sapp was in the Phoenix area to cover Super Bowl XLIX for the NFL Network. The arrest may have already affected his employment there. The channel took down his biography from the official “On-Air Talent” list on its website, and one source said Sapp’s future with the network is “not looking good.”

Sapp has arrests in the past — both of which were on charges of domestic battery in 2010 and 2014. The charges were dropped in the 2010 case.

TMZ previously reported that before the Super Bowl, local officials warned folks they would be cracking down on prostitution.
